CARI Bengaluru - CARI Bengaluru Achieves ISO Accreditation, Sets Benchmark in AYUSH Diagnostics

The Central Ayurveda Research Institute has achieved a major milestone in healthcare quality after its clinical laboratory received ISO 15189:2022 accreditation for Biochemistry and Haematology.

With this recognition, the institute has become the first under the Central Council for Research in Ayurvedic Sciences to secure this internationally accepted certification, marking a significant advancement in AYUSH-based diagnostics.

Raising Standards in Diagnostic Accuracy

According to the Ministry of Ayush, the accreditation ensures that the laboratory delivers accurate, reliable, and safe diagnostic results aligned with global quality standards.

The certification reflects a transition from an entry-level NABL-certified facility to a fully accredited centre of excellence. This shift is expected to strengthen the credibility and acceptance of Ayurveda-based diagnostic systems.

Government Emphasises Global Benchmarks

Minister of State (Independent Charge), Prataprao Jadhav, highlighted the importance of international accreditation in ensuring precision in diagnostics, noting that it directly impacts treatment outcomes and patient care.

Ayush Secretary Vaidya Rajesh Kotecha described the development as a key step toward integrating high-quality diagnostic services with traditional systems of medicine. He emphasised the growing focus on research, evidence-based practices, and patient-centric healthcare.

Built on Strong Institutional Foundations

Director General of CCRAS, Rabinarayan Acharya, noted that the institute’s earlier NABH and NABL certifications, along with its role as an Ayurveda Science Incubation Centre, have contributed to elevating its standards.

CARI Head Sulochana Bhat called the accreditation a proud moment for the institute, crediting the dedicated efforts of the team, including Dr. Vidyashree Anchan and laboratory staff.

Expanding Reach and Capacity

During 2025–26, the laboratory conducted over 1.52 lakh investigations, benefiting more than 9,300 patients. The institute has also introduced faster and more accessible digital reporting services, reflecting its growing capacity and commitment to quality healthcare delivery.
