TB Mukt Bharat Abhiyan: Awareness and Screening Drive Held in Dimapur


An awareness and screening programme was organised in Dimapur as part of the ongoing TB Mukt Bharat Abhiyan. The initiative forms part of a 100-day campaign relaunched on March 24, 2026.
The programme took place at the Regional Ayurveda Research Centre conference hall. It was conducted through collaboration between the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare and various state stakeholders.
Multi-Agency Collaboration for Public Health
The Regional Ayurveda Research Centre operates under the Central Council for Research in Ayurvedic Sciences, which functions within the Ministry of AYUSH. The event was also supported by the State District TB Control Programme in Nagaland.
Officials emphasised that tuberculosis remains a major public health concern. Therefore, the campaign aims to strengthen early detection and ensure timely treatment across the country.
Screening Results Highlight Need for Early Detection
During the programme, 50 beneficiaries underwent screening for tuberculosis. Among them, five individuals were identified as suspected TB cases at an early stage.
Healthcare professionals stressed that early diagnosis can significantly improve treatment outcomes. They also encouraged people to remain alert to symptoms and seek timely medical care.
Experts Promote Preventive Care and Awareness
Dr. Dipsundar Sahu, Research Officer in-charge, highlighted the role of Ayurveda in maintaining overall health. He urged beneficiaries to visit OPDs or nearby healthcare centres regularly.
Meanwhile, treatment supervisor Renvungi encouraged individuals with symptoms to seek prompt attention. She also informed attendees about government support and treatment benefits.
Programme Coordination and Participation
The event was coordinated by Dr. Laiphrakpam Renu, Consultant (Ay.). In addition, the vote of thanks was delivered by Nikhil Krishna.
The programme brought together healthcare workers and community members. It also reinforced the importance of collective action in eliminating tuberculosis.
