Kerala will start 38 new Ayurveda dispensaries in the current fiscal. The state’s health minister gave this information after inaugurating various healthcare projects such as ‘Drushti’(for treating myopia or short-sight in children), ‘Jeevani’(for diabetics), ‘Punarnava’ (for paralysed persons), ‘Hruthu’ (for adolescent girls) ‘Prasadam’(for school children) and ‘Kaumara Sthoulyam’ (for obese children) in Thrissur in October.   These health care projects will be started in the major cities in Kerala.

As many as 48 Ayurveda dispensaries have already been started in the state and more than 1,500 new vacancies have been created in the health department as part of this. AYUSH centres that provide Ayurveda, yoga, naturopathy, unani,  siddha and homeopathy disciplines under one roof would soon be launched in the state. The state government will sanction Rs 4 crore for the Ayurveda sports hospital to being constructed in Thrissur for providing world class treatment for sportspersons.
