Tamil Nadu Veterinary and Animal Sciences University (TANUVAS), Chennai and Central Council for Research in Siddha (CCRS) of Ministry of AYUSH have entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to explore the benefits of ancient Indian medicine and focus on developing new array of Ayurvedic medicines that can replace other forms of drugs in veterinary treatment.
Some of the other objectives of the MoU were a collaborative documentation on the ‘Use of Plants in Animal Practice’ as well as workshops on Siddha medicines in animal diseases. The hope is that the initiative will make herbal medicine more user friendly and inexpensive to benefit the farming community in the long run. In the recently announced National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF), TANUVAS has ranked 36th at the national level and 3rd in the State.
