Rising Footfall at Hamirpur Ayurvedic Centres

Public trust in Ayurveda is steadily increasing in Hamirpur district. As a result, Ayurvedic health centres are witnessing a significant rise in patient visits.
Around 70 Ayurvedic institutions in the district have reported higher outpatient department (OPD) footfall. This growth reflects a broader shift in healthcare preferences among residents.
OPD Cases Show Strong Growth
According to official data, OPD attendance has increased sharply over the past five years. Patient numbers rose from 2,19,717 in 2020–21 to 3,42,357 in 2025–26.
This marks an increase of 1,22,640 cases. The steady rise suggests that more people are opting for Ayurvedic treatments, either alongside or instead of conventional medicine.
Post-COVID Shift Boosts Ayurveda Use
The trend gained momentum after the COVID-19 pandemic. During this period, many people turned to traditional remedies such as kadha and herbal formulations.
These practices helped build confidence in Ayurveda. Moreover, many individuals have continued using such remedies even after the pandemic.
Experts Cite Key Benefits
Experts attribute Ayurveda’s growing popularity to several factors. It is often seen as having fewer side effects and focusing on the root cause of diseases.
In addition, Ayurveda promotes lifestyle changes and preventive care. These aspects make it appealing for managing chronic conditions and improving overall health.
Government Efforts Support Growth
Government initiatives have also contributed to the rise in patient numbers. Efforts to expand Ministry of AYUSH services and improve rural healthcare access have played a key role.
Better availability of facilities and increased awareness have encouraged more people to seek treatment. Common conditions include seasonal illnesses, digestive issues, skin disorders, and joint pain.
Official Statement on Growing Trust
District AYUSH Officer Rajesh Kalia highlighted the reasons behind the trend. He noted that Ayurvedic medicines are generally considered to have minimal side effects.
He also said that these treatments aim to address the root cause of diseases. This approach continues to strengthen public trust and drive higher OPD footfall.
